emma portner | dancer + choreographer
As a rising star in contemporary dance, Emma Portner breaks boundaries with her curious, honest, and versatile movement. Her accolades include being honored as American Dance Award’s Young Choreographer of the Year as well as being included in The New York Times 30 Under 30 Documentary Series. As the choreographer of Bat Out of Hell: The Musical, she recently made history by being the youngest woman to choreograph a musical in the West-End. The New York Times calls her "beguiling”, and Dance Spirit Magazine declares Emma has an "unstoppable career” and is "changing the dance world with her imagination that knows no bounds”. Capezio affirms that Emma is "challenging the standard of mediocrity" and has given her the title of Capezio Athlete. Her choreography has garnered millions of international views and won top placement in the 2014 CAPEZIO A.C.E Awards. Most recently, she has been named Artist in Residence with Benjamin Millepied’s Los Angeles Dance Project. In addition, Emma also produces, manages, and directs her own short films and dance company.
